AT A GLANCE

There’s a critical gap in understanding in our culture today. It’s rooted in the false belief that to feel successful and happy we need to achieve extrinsic goals and rewards, like praise, monetary or material rewards and the new status that commonly come with these. Yet, paradoxically, studies have found that these extrinsic rewards are more likely to result in our feeling less successful, less happy, and less fulfilled. Pursuing external rewards has been linked to increases in depression, anxiety, and mental illness. If you want to be more successful, experience more joy, satisfaction and meaning, you are best to shift your attention from attaining more of these extrinsic rewards, and focus on being better, inside-out, one thought, feeling and action at a time. I.e., Mindsets focused on being better trump mindsets focused on acquiring more extrinsic rewards.

Better mindsets are those which support and contribute to our betterment. They lead us to be better and do better, one thoughtful step at a time. In contrast, More mindsets are those which leave us feeling like we need more of something to feel successful, and often lead us to feel deflated and unsuccessful. Put simply, More mindsets often keep us from experiencing the success we desire. More often than not, they have a detrimental influence on us.

We have found that learning how to make each circumstance and encounter in your life better in kind, loving, respectful, and compassionate ways, is a key to meaningful success in life, and a growing number of studies are confirming this approach. It serves to ensure we leave a legacy we feel deeply content with. This Lab is designed to support you in this process and to ensure you have what you need to cultivate Better mindsets and reap the many rewards.
HEALTH SCENE INVESTIGATION
  • How successful do you feel?
  • How consciously do you evaluate your criteria for success in your chosen endeavors, at work and at home? Is it your thoughtfully developed criteria or is it someone else’s and a reflection of your cultural conditioning? Is it focused on “being better” or “acquiring more”?
  • Have you made a habit of focusing on your mindsets and ensuring they support your betterment and success? Do you know how to do so? Is it second nature for you at this time?
  • Is there likely to be a better time to explore the impact of better mindsets on you and your success in life than now?
HYPOTHESIS

Understanding the importance of better mindsets and cultivating your skill in making a habit of them, will empower you to be better and to improve the circumstances you encounter. The skills better mindsets will lead to you to develop, will result in greater success and will transform your experience of your life in important new ways. Paying attention to the wholesome, inspired exploration of our personal potential, through retraining our mindsets to focus us on how we can be better, one thought, feeling and action at a time, is one of the best and most rewarding investments we can make.
